North Valleys project map

An exciting new chapter for WCSD schools begins.

With the completion and approval of the final district wide FMP, the district is taking steps toward the implementation of this comprehensive plan. On February 1, 2024, the Capital Funding Protection Committee approved a recommendation to the WCSD Board of Trustees of the budget allocations for the “Major Projects Program 23/24 A” in the amount of $190.5M. At the February 13, 2024, Board of Trustees meeting, the Trustees approved the budget allocations for the “Major Projects Program 23/24 A” in the amount of $190.5M.

This budget allocation provides for the following work:

  • Stead Elementary School- $3.5 million for design work to rebuild at new site
  • Reed High School – $12.5 million for design work for school modernization project
  • Mathews Elementary School – $1.3 million for design work for modernization project
  • Palmer Elementary School – $1.5 million for design work for modernization project
  • Loder Elementary School – $.2 million for conceptual study to rebuild school on current site
  • Wooster High School – $1 million for conceptual study to rebuild school on current site

NDOT 395 North Valleys Project

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is making improvements to a 4-mile stretch of U.S. 395 from North McCarran Boulevard to Golden Valley Road in northern Nevada. This project will widen U.S. 395 southbound from two to three lanes between North McCarran Boulevard and Golden Valley Road and add sound walls near residential areas.


Lemmon Valley – Spanish Springs Connector Study

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is seeking community input on the draft report of the Lemmon Valley – Spanish Springs Connector study. Please scroll down for a link to the report. In addition, you can watch a short video for more information. This study examines different options for a roadway that would potentially connect the Spanish Springs area to the North Valleys area. The location of the roadway has not yet be determined. Additionally, the study evaluates existing traffic operations and safety issues on Eagle Canyon Drive to identify potential improvements.
